MSU offers a forage, grassland conference
MISSISSIPPI STATE – Those with an interest in forage production and grasslands will find topics that appeal to them at a Nov. 17 Mississippi State University conference.
The 2010 Mississippi Forage and Grassland Conference will focus on forage production systems and economic sustainability. The event will run from registration at 7:30 a.m. until wrap-up at 4:45 p.m. at the Mississippi Horse Park in Starkville.
“This conference promises to be the best yet, with experts from six states speaking on important forage-related topics,” said conference organizer Rocky Lemus, a forage and grazing systems specialist with the MSU Extension Service.
Speakers from MSU, Auburn University, the University of Georgia, Louisiana State University and the University of Kentucky will discuss topics that include the economics of forages, native warm-season grasses, nutrient management in pasture systems, pests and pesticides, and equine nutrition.
Preregistration is $15 per person before Nov. 12 and $20 after that. Lunch is provided. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
