The Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station and MSU’s Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences will host the 28th annual Livestock Production Sale of bulls and bred heifers on Nov. 18.
The sale will take place at the Mississippi Horse Park, which is located on Poorhouse Road south of Starkville. Interactive video bidding during the cattle sale will take place at the Forrest County Extension office in Hattiesburg and the Central Mississippi Research and Extension Center in Raymond.
A $5 barbeque sandwich lunch will be served at noon by the MSU Collegiate Cattlemen’s Association, and the cattle sale will begin at 1 p.m.
Ten bulls and three open heifers from the MSU Angus, Hereford and Charolais purebred herds will be marketed, along with 31 commercially bred heifers from the MAFES research farms in Starkville, Raymond, Prairie and Poplarville with expected calving dates next spring.
The annual livestock production sale is conducted as part of the Managing Livestock Sales class taught at MSU. Students in the class play an integral role in sale activities.
