Apply by Dec. 1 for Senate page service
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Mississippi State University Extension Service is accepting applications for young people interested in serving as pages during the 2016 regular session of the Mississippi Senate.
Four young people will be selected to serve as pages representing MSU Extension 4-H and the Center for Government and Community Development. They will participate in the 2016 Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves 4-H Senate Page Program, serving Feb. 8-12 in Jackson.
The selection committee is seeking high school students with a demonstrated knowledge of, involvement with and interest in issues relating to citizenship, leadership and governmental functions.
To qualify, applicants must be 4-H members who are at least 14 years old as of Jan. 1 and have not yet graduated from high school. They must have a B average or higher and agree to adhere to all behavioral standards expected of 4-H members. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. Dec. 1 to be considered for this program.
4-H will provide lodging, chaperones and two meals a day for the students who are selected to serve in the Legislature for that week.
