2 pesticide disposal events set for north Miss.
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Farmers in Monroe and Tunica counties can dispose of unused hazardous agricultural products at two separate events.
The Waste Pesticide Disposal events, organized by the Mississippi State University Extension Service, will accept insecticides, herbicides and fungicides. Household chemicals, rinsates, and empty and bulk containers will not be accepted.
On March 2 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., acceptable products will be collected at the National Guard Armory in Aberdeen at 809 Hwy. 145 North.
On March 4 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., acceptable products will be collected at the Tunica Arena and Expo Center in Tunica at 3873 U.S. Hwy. 61 North. For the Tunica event only, participants can drop off two tractor tires and 10 auto tires per individual.
The events are free to Mississippi farmers. Participants are responsible for safely transporting their chemicals and other products. Leaky containers must be in secondary containers: trash bags for granular products and empty bulk containers or plastic storage bins for liquids.
