Lappa Clover (Trifolium lappaceum)

Plant Characteristics: Annual legume with hairy leaves and stems and small head with pink to white flowers.

Establishment: Adapted to loam to clay soils and tolerate poor drainage. Seed is not commercially available. Available seed should be broadcast between September and October at a rate of 10 to 15 lb/ac.

Fertilization: Grows better on calcareous soils and fertilization should follow soil test recommendations.

Grazing/Hay Management: Pasture utilization is best due to the short growing season.

Forage Quality: Comparable to other clovers.
