Small Ruminant FAMACHA Training for Parasite Management

This training will educate small ruminant producers about the strategic control of internal parasites incorporating three tools: Anthelmintic usage, the FAMACHA System, and Pasture Management.

Target Audience(s):

Small ruminant producers

Objectives:

Participants will:

  • Identify parasites that primarily affect sheep and goats,
  • Learn proper anthelmintic (chemical dewormers) usage and limitations for sheep and goats,
  • Learn and demonstrate the correct usage of the FAMACHA technique to identify anemia in sheep and goats, and
  • Understand the need for pasture management and a complete integrated approach to achieve complete strategic parasite control.
