School groups invited to CVM open house
MISSISSIPPI STATE – Registration is now open to school groups for the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine’s annual open house, to be held April 13 and 14.
The open house will take place both days between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Wise Center, located on the south side of campus off Spring Street in Starkville. The April 13th program is for pre-registered school groups, and the April 14th program is open to anyone in the community. School groups can register for this free event by contacting Brandi Van Ormer at (662) 325-0465.
Attendees will enjoy a petting zoo, animal shows, an up-close look at a cow’s digestive system, a lesson on microchip scanning, a view of the animal hospital and classrooms, and veterinary displays and demonstrations. Children can bring in their “injured” stuffed animals for repair as part of the Teddy Bear Suture program.
Older students will have the opportunity to talk to CVM students and faculty about veterinary careers and ask questions about the admissions process, course work and the field of veterinary medicine.
